Seems to be compacted into a shorter window than originally forecast -- and a little bit later -- but still saying the desert will get 1.0"-1.5" of rain by midday Friday, and 3+ feet of snow on the rim, and as much as 5-6 feet on the SF Peaks. I'm not gonna complain about any of that even if it falls a little bit short of the forecast.
Plus we are in a pattern that calls for another system midweek followed by another next weekend. For as dry as the summer/monsoon was, it's conceivable that this will end up being a wetter than normal year statewide.

Earth's rotation is the rotation of Planet Earth around its own axis. Earth rotates once in about 24 hours with respect to the Sun, but once every 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds with respect to other distant stars. If a hiker named Alan went hiking on a designated trail admiring the moon on a night it was forecasted to rain we can rule out Alan was in the eastern Goldfields.

Wind has been a PITA down here, light rain off and on for the last hour or so.

The 'soft' cover over Tracey's car was ripped to shreds, probably by the single 39 mph wind gust noted by my weather station... all that's left is the metal skeleton.
Oh well, it was about time for replacement anyway. (Maybe we'll build a permanent one like our new neighbor just did)
Only had .01" the first part of the week so I wondered yesterday if we'd get any rain at all... and we did:
.01" around midnight
.04" around 3 am
.98" between 4:45 and 6:50 am

There are several ways to spell Alan, but you used the correct one.

It's hitting the Oro Valley and NW Tucson area pretty hard, .67" of rain in the past 4 hours.

Looks like the weather got us pretty darn good in Laveen. Took out my olive tree in the front yard and blew over a mimosa in the backyard. Weather station reported a few gusts over 55mph around 2am...

GrottoGirl and I are curing olives from my two trees. About 1-2 more weeks and they will be done.

The Mimosa and the Olive were messy but the Olive at least provided some good shade and kept temps down in our living room during the summer months. Didn't realize how expensive tree removal was.

Just a thought; If I weren't 200 miles away, I would come out , cut that up, and haul it away for free. Look at the cost to purchase that wood for use in a smoker. You might consider an add on Craig's List targeting grill-heads. We do this very thing when we heavy-prune our pecan trees, saving a huge chunk of labor $$$.

Plan on heading south to the WaterWorld tomorrow. Should be really good, with some fun driving thrown in.

Yeah after a few quotes, I think I will just take care of it myself. Additionally, I plan to keep the olive wood for smoking. I will occasionally run mesquite and oak splits in my WSM and it works decent enough. I should be able to get some decent splits from the tree and Olive will be interesting to smoke with.

I considered buying some olive, but at $4 to $5 per lb x 1-1/2 to 2 lb per hour x as many as 8 hours = more $ in wood than in meat. Mimosa is supposed to be good too.
I'm 1/3 mesquite for the heat and 2/3 pecan because it has an amazing flavor and is free to me. Being that I've lived here most of my life, I've become numb to the taste of mesquite, and the usual cherry, apple, etc, just don't carry enough weight for a pork butt or brisket (IMO).

They sure blew this Forecast. I opted not to go on a 4 Day Camping Trip over Thanksgiving. On Monday they were predicting Rain every day, so I cancelled it. Pretty Disappointed in how things didn't develop. This was my only chance to get away for the next couple of months....
When the storm rolled in around 3:30AM I remembered this post and figured you must have p... off the weather forecasters pretty badly to warrant such a tough storm.

You should feel better now about your decision as you sure wouldn't have wanted to get caught in that.

Less than 24 Hours of Rain? I'd been fine with that, Wind and all. It was the 3 1/2 Days they were predicting that made me pull the Plug. It would have been Beautiful yesterday and this Morning!

Snowbowl reports a 54 inch storm total, usually at mid Mountain. You don't see that too often even in the middle of winter, and I don't think I've ever seen that kind of snowfall in November!
For anyone who's planning to head to the resort there will undoubtedly be traffic and parking nightmares.

It was great yesterday. No nightmares or near nightmares. Just snow and fun.
