The endless chatter of weather.

@Jim_H As in real life, this is an excellent opportunity to remain silent, or at a minimum, change the subject.

I read that the models are having a tough time with temperature forecasts next week. By Wednesday the models range from pleasantly cool highs as low as just 91 to craziness as high as 114. It will be interesting to see which way the forecast leans as the models get a better grasp on things.

those models sounds about as accurate as COVID-19 models :)

Daaang-- got a few drops on the windows and a really super wind gust watched the neighbors patio umbrella go visiting 3 houses down.

I love entertainment like that. One time a powerful dust devil picked up my neighbor's trampoline, sent it flying over a big mesquite tree, and dropped it right in my driveway! Yeehaw :o

112 at phx ties the record. And it's still early. We could still get another degree or 3. :o

21 more days of the current [ my favorite hiking season is... ]

@joebartels
That's a loaded question. I think my favorite Hiking Season is summer, but my favorite Camping Season is Autumn. And my Favorite Desert Season is Spring. Winter is my favorite project season.

My favorite season is Kona.

Well that's just silly. As @jim_h has explained (probably somewhere in this thread) there's only two more days left in the current season. Why we discuss meteorological terms with astronomical definitions, I'll never understand.

@chumley
call it meteorological if you like, the bond you and Jim share is astronomical

There’s a steady light rain and occasional thunder on top of Pinal Peak right now.

Its huffing and puffing around here as well, plus attempting to spit rain. Caught a few on my windows on one side of the house.

In Flagstaff we have the clouds, it's unusually warm, but no rain out here in Donkey Park as yet.

Boy! It was rocking and rolling last night around here. I've never seen such sustained high winds last for so long. Lots of downed trees and branches in my neighborhood this morning and had a power line snap about a mile from the house last night. Crews were still out this morning fixing some poles and restringing power lines.

Yes, had some actual precip with a small puddle still in low spot of street this am. Supposedly more on tap for this afternoon.

I was hit with a nasty dust storm on Piestewa around 8 PM last night. Had a few hot drops of rain, too, before the temperature dropped to a cool 97 at my car, which was nice. Only went so late because it was 111 again. Got a nice full chest load of filth rich in that coccidioidomycosis. Mmmm, enriching. Very weird July or August like day, in May!

That crap is no joke. Still trying to recover from it. Think I'm going to be in the lucky 30% of people that catch it who deal with it on and off for life.
