When I walked out I caught myself saying "it's almost freezing" and quickly realized the idiocy of that remark, even if it was under my alarmed breath

57* at the start of my hike, then dropped considerably at the creek momentarily. Lovin' it!

27 here in Flag this morning. I'm staying inside, burning propane, until a more reasonable temperature has been achieved.

26 degrees for the low in Flagstaff, and a forecast high of 44 at 12,000' on the Peaks. So much for the nice weather up there,....for a while. it sure was nice being on the summit with 65 degrees last week.

Indeed, we all enjoy different types of weather. I like mild conditions. Not sub-freezing, or 115, but the kind of weather most people think of as pleasant. Lows in the 50s, highs in the 80s, sunny and dry with happy clouds scattered about. I like sunshine, lollipops, rainbows,......

Hopefully we will receive some decent winter totals to help make up for the shortfall.

yes, we can hope! I wonder what impact the dry summer will have on colorful fall foliage and winter/spring wildflowers?

If memory serves, as it often does not, we had a poor monsoon last year but nice winter rains. The result was a second near "super-bloom" spring in a row.

If I recall, the last I checked the scientific discussion indicated they expect 2020 all around to be a record dry year including fall/winter. I hope they are wrong. I do not enjoy carrying 12 liters of water in my backpack.
Lately I have been using farmer's almanac for long-range weather outlooks. They have pretty much been spot on as long as I've been looking at it.

I hope they're wrong too, but 2020 shows no signs at all of offering up any redeeming qualities.
