Got some drops, some hard even, last night for about 20 minutes. Dry this morning with dust spots on the truck to show where the sandstorm covered the rain.

California sucked up all your rain !! Got about .75" here and about 1.5" in the Inland Empire (about 85 mi North). You guys live in the desert... who needs rain there!?

Not all of AZ is desert, Flagstaff, the White Mountains, the Mogollon Rim area are far from it. Still, we get a summer rain period, so you stealing our rain in April is fine, so long as we get it in July and August. Did northern San Diego Country really get 3/4 of an inch? Did the San Barnardino areas really get 1.5 inches? That's impressive for this time of year, I think.

Liz - Don't have any rational explanation but the first thing I thought of was Platoon... :o

And yes... jhodlof, according to my unofficial weather sources... San Bernardrano did get about 1.5"... Not enough to rid the place of the detritus but, heck... have to start somewhere!

I thought it was never trust anyone over thirty. Which means I shouldn't trust most of you. Or myself. I'm confused now. :-k

Oh, yeah. You're right. Hmmm...now I wonder why I made that mistake? ;)

Every day it gets greener around here. This town looks kind of gray and drab in winter, because we have so many deciduous trees. Now all the lawns are greening up, and many of the trees have green buds on them, and some of the fruit trees are starting to flower. It sure cheers me up!

After a very nice week, we have a monsoon-like forecast! What gives?

It's pretty bizarre. Not the monsoon, but bizarre.

Just noticed that there's a nice-looking pattern-shift coming this week. Things like "significant valley rain" and "accumulating snow above 5000 feet" and "temperatures 15-20 degrees below normal" all sound good to me for the second-half of April.

Well, for the region it would be a good thing, but I do prefer a general warming and drying trend for the next few months before the monsoon. On the other hand, a significant 1/2 inch+ soaking rain in these parts would be really good, so maybe it will be OK. Snow, now that I DO NOT WANT. I don't want to see snow again until November or December. Heavy rain, absolutely, but not snow! I guess snow and wind in April is part of the "joy" of Flagstaff living.

I got in a pretty long bike ride today--36 miles--which seemed long after a winter spent mostly sitting on my butt typing papers. This ride was also in anticipation of not being able to ride next week. And tomorrow a long hike is planned... If we have significant rain I will just have to go to the lap pool instead. I'm getting serious about getting in shape for summer...

I felt a drop here in Tempe ... but the gauge reads nada so far.

Up north looked sporadic yesterday, generally .1" to the high of .64" at Bellemont. I hope today and tomorrow adds to the totals. The radar appears to be a bit more widespread today.

More importantly ... I am trying to enjoy what is certain to be the last day in the 60s here in the valley until November. I know what's coming and I want to hang on to this day as long as I can!

Got a few showers while hiking in the Supes yesterday, even a little hail. Probably less than 1/10 inch though. Plenty of wind.

It snowed 4 inches in Lakeside last night, according to my friend, and we woke up to a dusting over here. It is snowing right now in the higher elevations, and it is cold. Not a good thing for our fruit trees, which are mostly all in bloom. We will be lucky to have any apples later this year.

It was not that cold this morning but this afternoon it is very cold. Ugh...I am tired of the snow!

Forecast is snow tonight, 23 degrees. Not good for our fruit trees at all.
