I thought I'd throw an idea out on the table
maybe we could combine the map & compass event with another that's been requested
how about...
the 1st Annual HAZ BBQ
I'm thinkin' South Mountain, Papago(but it closes at dusk) or Piestewa(the other side which is more of a park)
or wherever is good for orienteering & a BBQ
mid July Saturday, starts late afternoon with map & compass then the masses join for one hum dinger of a BBQ
might need more guides than just Matt if there's a lot of folks

Okay then, I'll just have to find a sitter. Well, at least this way, I can get to know more members,
RELAX, and have some of that delicious POTATO SALAD, in moderation of course

Yeah, you might encounter a bunch of axe murderers, just waiting to lure you into the wilderness.
I had lots of fun with this joke on my first hiking forum hike. I have a double bit axe I was going to put in the back of my car for that trip, but thought better of it. Now when ever we get together the axe jokes come up.
Honestly, you don't meet many jerks after about 5 miles from the trail head.

Who may I ask is bringing the blood? AZ Hiker wants to see the "real us"
Bryan Mertz should supply all the beer, all the beer, not one or two cases but 5 or 6 kegs, he's a nice guy he'll do it if we just ask nicely. Matt thinks Bryan should bring all the beer so lets start a campaign to get Bryan to be "Beer King" not the whopper slinging burger guy, but BEER KING.
Bryan don't be mad at me, I just figured you can dip into that trust fund you have, the one you tell all the chicks at the bar about, and grab a buck or two for the cause.
AK, Oregon just got taken over by Canada, not sure how they masterminded it, but it was only a question of time before it happened, if I was in your shoes I would never bring my kids into a unstable war zone like Oregon. See you at the BBQ.

Thanks for the war update. I'll brave the Canadians Joe. By the way, great pic.

Have a good tip Aaron. Don't mind Bologna - he rambles some. I begged and pleaded with him to not mention my trust fund to anyone - and look what he does. Although I think it was the night that photo was taken that I talked to him about it.
AK - we'll have to do another hike soon.

Put what you want in your signup post using the "edit" button.
List what you will bring, hit submit, then Joe will add it to the top list.
So it may not show up for 24 hours like he said in red.
Hope this helped.

Is this the only way to signup for stuff to bring???
When i signed up last night Joe had not yet made the clarifications on not PMing Matt with stuff we were bringing.
I am probably just completely spacing on how to do this and the answer is right in front of my face...

It's been a llllonggg day

You have the "edit" button for your post so I can't add your list, so unless you edit your own and add what you want to bring, then pm Joe and tell him to add your list. Not sure if he wanted it that way, but he can help out further.
It took me a while to get use to all the bells and whistles here too, don't worry. But I do think you are definitely ready for a few beers at the BBQ , me too!!!

I can find where to sign up but like I said Matt, I am having this problem signing in. I still cannot get in to add my daughter on as a friend as you suggested to either the BBQ or compass/map class or to add what items I will bring (although you did pm me about that). How can I add her if I cannot access that??????

Hey Cindy,
On the Map & Compass page
go down to your box #3 with your picture, look in the upper right corner for an edit button
click the edit button, in the box that says # of friends - type in 1
It doesn't look like you've signed up for the BBQ yet
they're 2 different functions
