Setting up a sign-up sheet for continued search for Joe this coming weekend. It sounds like folks want to coordinate a heavy search of the south side of Mt. Peeley. We'll see what happens with the searchers during the week and also how the weather holds up-- it looks like possible rain at the end of the week. I'll be out there Saturday (weather permitting) and possibly Sunday. Also, if anyone's willing to carpool to the TH that would be awesome. My ride won't make it so I'd love to cram in with someone else. Meet at the TH at 7-ish.

Do any of you have experience with the costs with and without a towing package on your insurance?

I found that my insurance has a $60 cap on road assistance benefits. This was not worth the premium; I no longer need to insure myself against a $60 bill. As I recall, the cost of getting a tow truck up that road was nearly 5 times that. I chalked it up to the cost of doing business. In the early 80's I had to call one into a forest, many miles from pavement. That was ~$160 but my insurance at the time covered it.

I accept these kinds of costs because, while they are certainly no joy, are tolerable given the relatively inexpensive nature of hiking/backpacking when compared to other hobbies and activities. For $1,000 worth of gear, and $100 in gas, you can enjoy yourself for quite some time in places a tiny fraction of the population will ever see.
