Knoll Lake Backpacking (April 22-23)

Come out for a fun overnighter to Knoll Lake on Saturday, April 22nd. A group of us did this as a backpacking trip back in April 2011 and it was a lot of fun. HAZ is way overdue for another trip.
The plan will be to meet at 7am at Walmart (northeast side of store) off Dobson & the 202. We’ll head up to the Tonto Fish Hatchery and will make the hike in via the Babe Haught Trail. The trail makes a solid climb and then it’s easy going to the lake. The plan will be camp on the southeast side of Knoll Lake. There is good fishing and some day hike options. We’ll have a fire that evening and will return to Phoenix on Sunday. Please prepare for cold temps because we’ll be camping at 7,300 ft.
This trip is open to day hikers and backpackers. Dogs are welcome too. Please be self-sufficient and come ready to have fun!

So I just did a solid #tbt back to the original hike you referenced (see
here).
93 posts in an event thread! Old skool HAZ!
triplogs and photos were fun too. You can only hope that somebody portages a guitar and the weekend is full of magical unicorn farts!

Sounds fun, but I am already going to be up in Prescott supporting my girls with a Girl Scout camp. Good news is at least I can get in some kayaking while there...Next one!

@The_Eagle The weather looks fantastic on the rim! You and Joe should plan a loop hike and stop by Knoll Lake on your way back.
@tibber Come join us you can do this hike! It's a big climb to start but then the rest of the hike is cake!

Alas you've done a great job in bringing the temperature up and the hill down but it's been crazy. I was even thinking of doing a day hike but it's just not in the cards

. It's been too long. I hope we all can get together sometime soon!

You lose. CNF tweeted yesterday that all roads on the forest will open tomorrow afternoon. I can't imagine that will result in a whole lot of traffic up there, but there might be an early-season fishing boat on the lake.

Including the non-hazzers I know of, my unofficial tally currently has the number of people coming on this one at 11.
Weather looks good, the store still sells beer, etc.... Should be a fun trip to the lake!

I don't think I am going to be able to make it up this weekend, I was going to get a ride from
@friendofthunderGod, but I think he wants to stretch his legs a little more on Saturday and thats a little far to walk on my own...
