Hey everyone, i know this is a hiking forum but thought id ask anyway as most of you are knowledgeable with Az outdoors activities. Im looking for places with clear water to snorkel other than fossil creek, preferably not to far from Phoenix. Thanks.

How close to Phoenix? Some of the large lakes are warm in summer and have clear water, such as Lake Mohave, over by Bullhead City, and Lake Powell up by Page. Lake Havasu also comes to mind. The water at Lake Mohave is exceptionally clear, and so is Lake Mead, although it's further away from you. It's hotter than Hades over there right now, though. I have snorkeled in Lake Mead, and I have swum in Lake Mohave with goggles on, (trying to learn to roll my kayak.) Saw a whole bunch of little fish in both lakes.
The high mountain lakes are mostly murky or muddy and not very good for swimming, such as Big Lake, Lake Mary, etc.
Close to Phoenix I know there are many large lakes, such as Roosevelt, Canyon, Apache, etc. I haven't spent time at them, so I don't know if they're clear.
