A Starbucks coffee shop is currently under construction adjoining the Tusayan General Store.
Location: 577 State Highway 64, Tusayan, Arizona
Grand Opening: Dec. 22, 2017
Operation: The store will be operated by Delaware North, but is not part of the company's concessions contract with Grand Canyon National Park. The General Store and post office are open during construction.

Now we just need a Starbucks at Phantom Ranch. And Indian Gardens. And Tip Off...

It's a town with a McDonald's, Wendy's, and Pizza Hut. How is a Starbucks suddenly the end of the world?

Starbucks is great because it attracts all the fancy coffee drinkers away from everywhere else. Then I don't have to wait ten minutes to get a cup of plain black coffee from the no-name vendor.

If you prefer coffee that doesn't taste like they dumped cigarette butts in it, McDonald's coffee isn't half bad. Just sayin'...

Always keep the parable about the free corn, the pigs and the fence(s) in-mind..

We're talking about Tusayan, right? The incorporated town in the state of Arizona. Like Camp Verde and Jerome?

I'm also confused. They're opening a Starbucks in a town near the Grand Canyon. I don't see how that's even news, much less shocking or depressing news. Frankly, I'm shocked there isn't one there yet.

I don't drink coffee so couldn't care less..besides Starbucks is overprice ugh...
Oh wait, are we upset about them "installing" the Starbucks "stand" inside a building that's been there for decades?
Ooorrr are we upset about commercial businesses being run outside of one of the natural wonders of the world? (Pink Jeep, McDonald's, best western, Wendy's, plaza Bonita)
Oh please do continue. I'll just sit here and sip my nice cold uranium contaminated ice water while they build a new housing complex in the national Forest.

Nothing like listening to the generation that invented fast food chains and big box stores complain about them. Though somehow this will get blamed on millenials.

Tusayan will always be a backwater podunk town without a Filibertos.

This thread is click bait. A subject line that describes the topic would be appreciated

@John9L
Reminds me of the ominous "Redflex Corrpution" thread that never seems to live up to its exciting title.

I'm sure Starbucks' lawyers had the foresight to trademark every possible phrase that could be associated with their business unlike the National Park Service. I'm pretty sore at Delaware North for their trademark nonsense that came out when they lost their concessions at Yosemite. Of course they seemed to do a lot better job than Aramark was doing when I was in Yosemite this year, but still very uncool. Why is something like that even possible?
That Starbucks will probably do very well.

All I know is that they should make a Starbucks Grand Canyon mug to add to my wife's collection of coffee mugs. Give me another reason for a trip up there.

I like Starbucks mocha latte with whipped cream. But if I had one mocha latte a week that would be 18,720 extra calories per year. They vary in cost but at around $4 each, that would be $208 per year. So, I mostly abstain.

I've never been to a Starbucks because I don't use Apple products or own a beret.

No different than going to any other overpriced chain. You go to REI?

Yeah, but my year end bonus credit has yet to break the dollar barrier.
