I have just returned from hiking fossil creek, the water is great, the temperature is perfect, and believe it or not, there are NOT a gazillion people there. Found a new (to me) ruin today also.....Have a safe and fun holiday weekend....(wonder how the hells gate crew is doing)

Oh sure, rub it in while I am stuck home this weekend scrubbing floors!
I can live vicariously through your journeys til I get a "life" of my own!
Keep posting, always love to hear about your adventures!

Hellsgate was awesome and I had the privilege to hike with a great group of people. It certainly seemed longer than 13 miles though.

Why is it that we can suffer huge amounts of pain on the trail but the minute we get home and sit down, we can barely walk 10 feet?
Coaster
I dunno

You made it 10 feet? Wow, that's pretty good.

If this is the topic to post where you went... We went up to Utah and hiked Paria River/Buckskin Gulch on Saturday. We started at the White House and went to the boulder jam in Buckskin. 18 miles round trip. It took us 6 hours to get to the boulder jam (taking pictures and enjoying the hike) and 4 hours to get back out. The last 4 miles were heck with 90 plus temps and no shade!
Sunday we put the kayaks on Lake Powell and paddled around for a few hours.
Now I'm at work wishing I took the day off to recover from my vacation!
hey there

The hells gate crew is great! That was a fantastic trip, but not for the faint-hearted. The canyon was amazing. For those of you familiar with the tonto narrows, the popular part of the canyon, the rest was incomparable. I strongly reccomend this trip (especially if you throw in a fourth day to explore some of the different areas)

Hard to believe that every Boy Scout troop in the state wasn't there. I've been there probably 10 times. Only once was there not a Boy Scout in sight!

Oops.......sorry Cindy...once again I seem to have misled people. I did not hike to Fossil Springs, I hiked Fossil Creek itself......I am pretty sure the springs were packed, that is why I didn't go there. Most of the ruins that are to be found are along the creek itself from the Flume Road trailhead down to Steyr Lake.....very nice swimming holes all the way down also.....

No, you didn't mislead. I just don't always think about what I read (caused alot of problems in school!). I have never spent any time at Fossil Creek other than to take a quick dip and cool off after hiking out. Glad you had a good time.
