Morning hike partner for Piestewa Peak or White Tanks, 6/1

My weekend hiking plans have fizzled this week. At this point, I'm giving up on going out of town, but I do want to get a hike in with some elevation change. Anyone interested in a S-L-O-W trek up Piestewa Peak early Sunday morning? The White Tanks would be a good option, too, if you're on the west side.

I am hosting a going away party for my niece Sunday afternoon so I'd have to go early. If you are willing to be heading up the Peak by say 4:45 am I'd be happy to meet you there. I've been out running by 4:30 am and with the way the heat has kicked in it's a killer. 4:45 isn't that early is it??????????

4:45 Early?

Nah, 4:45 isn't early, it's late!!!

Everytime I can remember seeing 4:45 it's becuase I hadn't gone to sleep yet. WOW, isn't it still dark at 4:45?

I'll probably be on the main summit trail Sunday morning around 7:30. Yeah that's early :?

Oh, Cindy, thank you, but I could never be there by 4:45 a.m. I am a sleepy head. I was thinking 7:00 a.m. or 7:30 a.m. Maybe you and I could go another time?

Scott: how quickly do you plan on doing this? I am a slowpoke still. I've been trying to get back into shape by hiking, but my legs aren't very strong yet. I don't want to slow you down.

Darn... Too many obligations for the same day :?

It's my birthday that day and my daughter and I have other plans but I would have loved to do the Peak with all of you. We haven't done that yet, it's on my wish list for our second hike.

Keep me posted if another hike is planned :)

Cindy, that is what I like an early bird. It is the only way to go in the summer. And no 4:45 isn't too early at all, by 7:30 the day is half over

Geez.... What's with the attitude? Morning is the best part of the day no matter what the season. It is the most peaceful part of the day. A new day, something to be thankful for. This is me at 4:45... :D 8) and sometimes  . When your half way up Piestew Peak, on the edge of heat exhaustion, I will already be home from my morning run and my trek up the peak, drinking a mimosa (it's a weekend remember?), reading the paper, and enjoying a fruit salad with fruit from my yard. Hope you have a wonderful morning!!!!!!

I live on the west side but am willing to go over to the peak on my days off in the am if anyone wants to go! I work an odd schedule though so you'd have to check with me to see if I am working! I work an aternating schedule so if I am working one Tuesday I will be off the next Tuesday.... so it would work better if we could plan a bit in advance..... It would also work better if you had some week days off...I am also open for an everyother Sat morn hike up the peak!

Ok Cindy! I have to be up by 4:45 to be there by 6:00 so 4:45 is a bit early for me but 6:00 or later is cool with me. I can't go this weekend as it is my weekend to work so it would have to be next weekend for me....oops, no, I have to be in Tucson with my dtr next weekend.... orientation for U of A...ok so don't wait for me for this one cause it would be next month before I could do it cause then the next two weekends I will be outta town in Denver.... I have some weekday mornings I could do it....

But for those of you considering the peak who have never done it, do you realize it is actually a work out rather than a "hike"? It is a fittness trail kinda thing. I am not discounting it but you are not gonna find lots of photo opps and such up there. When I do it again I will wear my tennie runners instead of my boots and take a light pack cause ya don't need a whole daypack kinda thing..... I was not told these things before I did it and I was up there with my whole pack and looked like a fool.
