Fast Fact
On this date (June 10th) in 1905, the first Fire Lookout built by the US Forest service (Founded in 1905) went into operation on Maine's Squaw Mountain.
Prior to this, some private towers had been built.
The earliest ones I can find that were built in Arizona, are no longer in existence.
Mount Lemon 1913 (not current lookout) and then Pat Knoll (1914) in AS-NF, listed as a Crow's Nest.
The oldest active towers I show, are on Woody Mountain in Flagstaff (1922) 7' x 7'
followed by Deer Springs (1923) 7' x 7' in AS-NF.
