FR 4 Road Conditions

All,
I'm planning a hike Memorial Day (Observed) on the Alamo Canyon segment from the FR 4 crossing down to PicketPost.

Has anyone recently driven that road from Superior out to the trail crossing? What are my chances with a stock '96 Chevy Suburban 4x4?

Thanks for any advice,
Gary

Is this the road the leads out from behind the fire station and intersects the AZT? If so we mountain biked it recently. We opted to not take my friends lifted Jeep Wrangler which was a good choice. The road has been washed out in sections and would probably only be passable in a highly modified 4x4. At the very least two vehicles would be ideal in case you got stuck. A group of us will be out there bikepacking along the route that weekend, so if you see us say hi.

Well... A follow-up. My son and I hiked in almost all the way. @ultrazona 's description is correct. Short wheel base, off-road tires, and a lot of patience would be required to drive out there. There's a lot of sand, loose rock, narrow passages, and drop-offs.
