joe adds: I renamed this topic because Nighthiker has proven over the years to be an encyclopedia of knowledge. Of course anybody is welcome to jump in with an answer!

Does anyone know what type of lizard this is?

He also had a little buddy that he was wrestling around with, I think one might be male and one female, any ideas?

I suspect its a Collared Lizard (Croataphytus collaris) and not the Desert Collared Lizard (Croataphytus insularis).

Thanks nighthiker, I do believe you're right. I searched on google and some of the pictures I found could have been the same lizard they were so close in coloration.

This may help u. This site can only take so many hits a day so if u try it and it is unavailable try again later. It is very useful for identifying AZ reptiles.

Nighthikers is right about the ring collared lizard. The male and female have different coloration.

A Grouse, silly me, I don't know why I said Quail, I think the eyeshadow destracted me!
Hmmm I think I'll leave the hooker birds for Kenny to identify, he knows so much about it.
