Superstition Wilderness Pic (Where?)

One of our HAZ members, @ReneeG, recently purchased this framed pic attached which was labeled and sold as a Superstition Wilderness location scene.

Can anyone identify where this Superstition location is and if there is a posted HAZ- Hiking Guide, triplog and/or picset to confirm? :-k

Thank you!

@Grasshopper
You would have better luck finding the Lost Dutchman Goldmine than this picture in the confines of the defined Wilderness area.
Sorry but in my humble opinion it was taken somewhere else......

Grand Canyon, the redwall layer is obvious. Can't place the exact side canyon though.

Actually, I think this is a fraud, as you have a Navajo sandstone canyon in the foreground with the Grand canyon - about mid-canyon, in the background. Probably pasted two different images together.

That's Siphon Draw in the background and the Grand Apache Junction Canyon in the foreground... ok, so what if the canyon was pasted in front.

@Grasshopper If Renee bought it for its true historical value, it's a fraud and she should ask for her money back.
However... if it was purchased simply for the cool but unrealistic scene, great!

Well, the photographer must be proud of it as it does appear to be signed! :) I just can't imagine it being portrayed and for sale as being a scene in the "Superstition Wilderness" when it now appears to not be.

Thanks for all of the replies! I have looked at the artist's website, and it appears he is a big fan of photoshopping pictures together. I just wish that would have been explained on the back. It was $20.00 at the Superstition Mountain Museum, so I am not too worried about it. It can just be a beautiful dreamland😄.

So, where is Unicorn Canyon located?

It is in the deep recesses of a delusional Desert Rat mind, a member of the Monkey Wrench Gang.

I agree with the fraud thing. I looked at the picture closely and there seems to be a lot of photo shop going on on this photo. Cut and paste and sizing changes are to make a beautiful illusion that this place actually does exist. Not!!!

It may have been labeled differently in the museum, but on the web it has the title "Superstition Grand Canyon". This somewhat ambiguous title may lead one to believe that it's in the Superstition Wilderness without it actually saying so.

I would have named it Grand Rainbow Totem Superstition Bridge Pole Canyon. 🤷‍♂️ Then you can believe it to be wherever you want!

It seems pretty obvious to me that the artist wasn't trying to pass this off as real.

Agreed! As it turns out, this purchased print did not have a scene title on it. It only had the photographer's name on the back. It was for sale in the Superstition Wilderness Museum (in AJ?) and because of this, it was assumed to have been taken somewhere in our Superstition Wilderness. The end! :)
