Back behind Charlebois

Has anyone else ever bushwhacked through the jungle at Charlebois and come out into the bare rock? I did that a couple years ago, curious to find something interesting, but I didn't get all the back to the cliffs and didn't have time to explore the perimeter of the big bowl. I'm not sure it was worth the trouble to get as far as I did, but I still wonder what I would have found if I had a whole day to explore back there.

I can't say what was up there but that area is now in the western edge of the Woodbury Fire perimeter

It's the biggest expanse of slickrock I can think of in the Supes, so I don't expect the fire would change it much. It's not easy to get to, though. The spring extends pretty far back and the vegetation is dense and dark. Then you suddenly pop out into the blinding glare of a big rock oven.

How big are we talking about? Bigger than LaBarge box?

I had to go back and review some poorly shot photos. The bajada is brushier remembered it, so I really should apologize for mischaracterizing it. The main channel is mainly clear of vegetation, but more bouldery than slick except in spots. What's most striking are the sheer cliffs leading up to Peters Mesa, which are something like 800 feet tall. The canyon looks about a mile wide and a mile across. The lower part is a jumble of huge boulders but it's easy enough to pick your way through if you have time. I was camped at LaBarge and I didn't have enough time to explore as much as I wanted. It just seemed like someplace that had something to be found.

Yeah, it looks a lot bigger than it really is.
