The only way to properly honor Columbus’ special day is to go boating, not backpacking. I know I’ll be floating on some water, with a Pinta rum in my hand.

Whats wrong with backpacking solo, if you always wait for the "perfect" time it may never happen, just do like "Nike" and do it. On weekends and holidays everyone and their granny is out n about im sure anywhere you decide to go their will be people.

Nothing is wrong w solo. Just did it last weekend. Inspired me to take my remaining 9 days I have left vacay at work to hike Arizona for 7 of those days. Solo. So, nothing is wrong w solo. Just asking shish.
