Yep... saw that post. I thought that an entry in the GC forum would be apropos and helpful to anyone perusing HAZ to glean GC info.

Phantom Ranch closed as well as pipeline issues noted on the NPS GC site but at least no mules or fewer mules if they don't stop the pack trains.

Grand Canyon is suspending all river trip launches from March 24th to May 21st. Around the middle of April they will re-evaluate.

Ouch... I'm sure the Private Boaters aren't happy

Neither are the 16 river rafting companies with hundreds of employees, including myself. The private boaters are being given new launch dates. On the other hand, employees of river rafting companies depend on their summer wages, and now they will join the thousands more who have lost jobs. You can't get that time back. I'm fortunate to have social security and an inexpensive living situation.

Tell that to the families that have already lost loved ones. Your family might be next.

Stupid people choosing rhetoric over their own life is one thing. Stupid people choosing rhetoric over the lives of others is why we need this to happen.

I think that everybody, me included, recognizes how devastating this illness can be to those that contract it, including their family and friends...I am just saying that in the fullness of time the 2nd order and 3rd order effects might be even worse

Official notice: https://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/ ... update.htm

Other trails remain open. Current holders of backcountry permits may take their trip as long as no permit nights are in the corridor. Permit holders with corridor permits cannot take their trip. No new backcountry permits are being issued, even outside the corridor.

AZT hikers have no trail option to get through Grand Canyon.

I canceled my backpacking trip this weekend, but with the corridor trails closed, I'm actually kind of bummed I passed up the opportunity to hike Bright Angel Trail with nobody on it.

What makes you think you'd have been able to hike on a closed trail?
