New comet not getting much media coverage yet. I was struck by this nice picture taken near Flagstaff https://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_u ... _id=164561 .

I haven't seen it yet but early morning hikers should look toward the sunrise.

I looked this morning but couldn't see it from the Rest Stop north of Camp Verde.

I've been watching this comet in the evening. It's visible in the northwest sky below the big dipper. It's been about one third of the distance up from the horizon to the lower stars of the big dipper.
It first becomes visible about 8:45 pm and gets better as the sky gets darker. After 9 pm you can spot it with good eye sight if you know where it is but some 10 power binoculars are best. I've viewed it from Ellsworth road north of Usery Park (too much traffic) and near Higley & the 202 loop twice. There are usually a few others out looking and I was helped to located it on the first night then showed others the second and third time out. It should be the closest to us July 22nd so several days left if you want to get a look. There's no spaceship following this one so put away the Nikes and don't eat the apple sauce.

We watched it for a while last night also. Easier to find with the naked eye using peripheral vision rather than a focused stare. Then we used our binoculars...pretty neat!. Photos didn't turn out as it was too dark for my camera to pick up the tail clearly. I think an early morning photo attempt may work best when using a point and shoot camera like mine.

I was watching it several mornings when it was visible then. Even got kind of a picture. But it's been cloudy in the evenings here in Flagstaff. I'll start making an effort to look for it this week.
