When will it stop? Here is a new fire which started today near the Sears Kay Ruins south of Rackensack Canyon and east of Carefree. They already have a plane doing retardant drops. Update...the Forest Service just named it the "Bronco" fire.

Too much dry lightning. If we keep getting these thunderstorms that we have had the last few nights the fires may start to decrease. apparently there was a lot of rain west of Flagstaff and interstate 40 yesterday. It isn't really reflected in the Flagstaff airport total, but the more the better.

If it makes you feel better, this is just a really horrendous year for fires. You probably know about California's fires situation. This seems like the worst fire or smoke year since 2000. The entire west is smoked out. It isn't all high elevation haze the way it is here. We're lucky that way.
I'm considering a trip to Bryce, Cedar Breaks, and Powell Point area in a week or two and checked the webcam for Bryce. Visibility down low is really bad. Almost looked like there is a local fire up there, it is so bad. Maybe the fire will show some decreased activity, but more lightning is forecast over the north coast of California the next few days.

Maybe they will continue this naming trend, and have a Blazer fire, and a Jimmy fire,.
