Two things are gone.

We were up on the Rim Road yesterday and I realized it's been awhile since I've seen the grave of Andres Moreno. I think I know where it was and yesterday we parked at FR 9386V which is just west of Baker Lookout turnoff. There are four trees with orange tape making a square, or am I off from where it is?
What is definitely gone is the snowman in the canyon coming out of Camp Verde on I-17 south, at the Elevation 4000 sign. It was there last Wed., we check on it every time we go by. Gone as in the rock formation is gone, not just the paint removed. Oh yeah it's 2020, why not... ](*,)

If those are the most consequential things we've lost this year, I'm pretty ok with that.

I don't have a problem with the snowman, it was cute. But if someone stole the headstone that would really suck. I remember being a little kid and my dad showing it to me and then telling me about General Crook, the road and Apaches. The Apaches are what childhood camping nightmares are all about.

We looked for but didn't see the "Christmas Tree" in the median of I-17 south of Cordes Junction. Maybe it burned?

Bruce's photo is geocoded. Click on the red marker at the top of this page:

Oh yeah it definitely has a lack of greenness to it. It may pull through, but so far it's not pushing the happy envelope.

Yeah that was the four trees with orange ribbon on them and I double checked the FS map and Bruce's post this morning. Maybe I didn't walk upfar enough, but still??????

You just know that Greg's radar is pinging loud and fast. I hope you're prepared to take evasive action. :scared:

BTW, if that cute bear cub on page 2 of today's Republic looks familiar, it is! Congrats to Alston Neal, a missing snowman noticer and a published photog. Anything can happen in 2020.

It was your constant jumping up and down in the seat while yelling and pointing out the window about the snowman that almost made me crash.

Thank you Hansen for your compliment.

Is it possible the snowman just finally melted?

With our record temps, that is entirely possible

Cool, thanks. We'll be back there Wed. to check out a stand of maples we found and some bear crap.
