Hey gang! I had plans and permits to hike paria canyon next week with my wife but she's now unable to go and I don't want to do that one solo. Since I already had the time blocked off for work, I figured I might as well take the time to do a trip closer to home that I haven't done yet and SNP came up.
Anyone have 2 night recommendations? I think I have a general idea but always good to hear from people who have been there. Also, anyone been to [ Douglas Camp Spring ] recently that could report on the water? I saw a youtube video from the beginning/mid-Oct that showed decent water but not sure how reliable it is there typically.
Also open to other 2 night recommendations around Tucson; I haven't really spent any time down there before so it's all new to me.

The area around the top of Mica Mountain is beautiful. I did a trip in the spring which put me at Manning Camp for two nights which gave me a full day to explore the network of trails up there. If you don't mind the climb and have the time then you could get to Manning in one day via either Douglas Spring or Turkey Creek. Both will likely be overgrown at low elevations and both will be rather exposed until you get above at least 6500ft. A quick call to Saguaro East might yield some current data on water availability.

One thing to note is that there have been problems on and off with vehicles getting broken into overnight at the Douglas Springs trailhead. Its location makes it a perfect spot for thieves to do their thing.

Thanks for the heads up on the Douglas Spring TH; I actually meant to ask about that as I saw break ins mentioned on a blog I found saying they didn't choose that TH because they'd heard the same. I wasn't sure if it was just fearmongering or not but now that I've seen it twice, guess I should scratch that TH off the list.

My brother is a Pima County Sheriff's Deputy and that trailhead is part of his rounds on the nights he is assigned that sector. He would confirm the accuracy of that statement. Overall most of our trailheads are safe and we don't have the issues the popular trailheads in Phoenix have. But that spot in particular is one of the very few in Pima County with a break in problem.
