@DixieFlyer Only the road is closed to motor vehicles. Which affects exactly one regular haz poster. You may still run up and down from slate creek to your hearts desire.

@Nighthiker
Yeah, I had read that they extended the closure on FR 626 up to Ord and on the road to Mt. Peeley. Snow and ice can linger on north facing sections on both roads, so perhaps that has something to do with it

Saw lights on the Mt Peeley road, think hunters figured out access.

I was up that way yesterday. Gates on FR 25 (Mormon Grove) and FR 201 (Peeley, lower gate) were both open but FR 626 was closed. I did not check the higher gate on FR 201.

@mazatzal
It looks like the updated closure is just for Mount Ord, not for Mount Peeley

The Tonto Forest has another closure order off of 87 for the next couple of weekends. As best I can tell, this is to keep nutrition waist channels from burning Christmas trees.
The #TontoNF will implement a public safety road and trail closure order for the Sugarloaf and Lower Sycamore Area. This order will be effective beginning Jan. 8, 2022, at 6 a.m. through Jan. 9, 2022, at noon, and from Jan. 15, 2022, at 6 a.m. through Jan. 16, 2022, at noon, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.
