I have had mountain goats get closer to me than I was comfortable with

This is fairly common in areas of Utah and Colorado where the goats have become used to hikers/climbers.

They are so cute!

I always just pee off the cliff and watch them follow the stream down the mountain!

Are they looking for handouts, IE food that they shouldn't have because it's bad for them?

@SuperstitionGuy They're looking for salt. Which they get from people. Because we pee.

My video quality isn't as good but I think I got some good Mountain Goat encounters back in Aug 2012.
I, with Ambika and Guru, had several Mountain Goat encounters on our Glacier Trip in 2013. Here is a link to our first encounter approaching Gunsight Pass [ youtube video ] and later that day approaching Lincoln Pass [ youtube video ]
Here was our encounter the next day at the very start of our hike to Sperry Glacier: little snippet of the mule train and then the goats [ youtube video ]
and this was our fourth encounter coming back from Sperry Glacier [ youtube video ]

The only time they attack is if you call them a goat which antelope find offensive!

There was a study done a while ago and one of the findings of the study found that Mountain Goats like to hang around people because people deter Mountain Lions, the No. 1 predator of Mountain Goats and their kids.

I didn't get attacked either, but then I wasn't that close. [ youtube video ]
