In the description of the battle, a small cave is mentioned just below the peak. Does this cave exist? If so, where is it? Some sources indicate that women and children were moved into it when the battle started. The soldiers' bullets ricocheted in the cave killing almost everyone. I am curious to see whether there are any marks of ricocheted bullets. I have seen postings where people claim that this battle had not happened on Turret Peak but instead was actually the Skull Cave Massacre. When I make this trek, I'd like to try to find some physical evidence, such as ricochets. Please let me know if you can provide any info...

Skull Cave is the massacre site where the bullets ricocheted onto the Yavapai. Turret Peak is where a Tonto Apache group was hiding out at a Yavapai stronghold. They were chased there because of the killing of three miners. I don't know for sure if they were the same three killed at the Hassayampa River. That was said to be a Yavapai attack. The Yavapai and Apache/Tonto Apache were generally thought to be one and the same. Turret Peak massacre was the end of the Indian wars though.
