Mount Elden & Fatman's Trailhead Closure

The popular trails won't be closed, but the trailhead parking, which will undergo expansion, will be closed until June. Access will be via a short spur trail from the ranger station.

Long over due, but better than never. 50 cars doesn't seem large enough for summer weekends.

Given that the existing lot can handle probably around 30 to 35 cars (I counted 32 visible in the lot when the satellite image is zoomed to level 18) when people park in the unlined middle and along the entrance, it is like they are not even expanding it.

Looked like the overflow was routed over by the ranger station. Lots of cars.

We knew it was not enough parking.
