People hate birds now, or those that enjoy them? Man, nothing should surprise me anymore.

The American Ornithological Society (AOS) announced in November 2023 that it will change the English names of birds named after people: he AOS aims to address past wrongs, engage more people in the study of birds, and "remove exclusionary barriers" (whatever THOSE could be) . The AOS also believes that "evaluating the deservingness of honorees is a painful process", and that "respecting different narratives is more equitable" Some eponymous bird names carry associations with historic injustices. (Huh?) Rhymes with joke; right?
Remember......no more Coopers' Hawk -- its newoke name is "Astur cooperii".

Birders definitely don't want to date YOU anyhow.
