Over 20 years have passed since this story happened. I must have been under a rock to have not heard about it before. I'm guessing
@gummo is familiar with the story of Clem the Alligator. Interesting story with a happy ending. Clem is doing well and living his best life at the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary in Scottsdale with his new wife and kids.

Definitely heard about Clem. It's a stretch to say he was from "Grand Canyon." He was up on the Arizona Strip, on a ranch, which is now a part of Grand Canyon-Parashant NM.

An alligator was also found in the San Pedro by/in the reserve. I used to have an article about the alligator that was printed in the Tucson Citizen newspaper (80's?). If anybody has the article I would like to get a copy. The article basically said a few people saw the alligator and nobody believed them. When somebody actually got a picture Arizona Game and Fish had to get it. The believe somebody released it when there pet got too big.

Clem was probably the last vestige of the Egyptian empire that was in the Grand Canyon.
