The iPhone maker is investing heavily in satellite-based communications that keep users connected in places where traditional wireless signals aren’t available. Musk’s SpaceX, meanwhile, has launched more than 550 satellites that provide cellphone connectivity via its Starlink service.

This feels like a Trojan horse.

There has already been a conflict since going on the T-Mobile Starlink Beta service. GrottoGirl texted me last week when she was off-grid, telling me there was an issue with the T-mobile Starlink service overriding the Apple Satellite service. It was causing problems for her. We are both iPhone 15 Pro users on the same plan. I called T-Mobile support and asked if it was possible to disable the Starlink service from the device, and I was told no. So as a safety precaution, I had them remove it from our plan. There hadn't been any issues using the Apple service, so I felt that was best for now.

I don't know what to make of all that. I was just thinking that these services are sold as for the consumer but often have highly profitable reasons for existing that do not benefit the consumer at all. The mass surveillance and data harvesting industry, for example.
