The chart in your link says Arizona has 1,550,000 acres that are inaccessible. Do you even believe that? I'd like to know where these areas are, (if this is even true.)

Inquiring minds are also skeptical minds. This seems like a perfect @chumley project.

I used an online conversion tool 1.55 million acres equals 2421.875 square miles. Arizona's Land Mass is 113,998 sq miles, that's a bit over 2% of the total. A million of anything sounds like a lot until it's put into perspective. Let's see what Chumley has to say. Finding these areas that are inaccessible would be tedious, unless Gaia GPS,or onX has a layer for that?

I don't use it but a friend of my uses OnX for his hunt info. I'll ask him how much they update that app. The only thing I like about Gaia is it has a not easy to use but interesting mine claim overlay buried in it's menu.

...that it works with Android auto. I use gaia a lot to navigate to trailheads, but for navigation I only use it as a back-up to RS.

My guess is many of these areas are not really worth visiting. Probably a lot of BLM land that has no roads nearby and little of interest on the land.

I am in agreement for hiking, yet for hunters and fishing folks the lack of competition would be appealing.

I wonder how much of that is in the Arizona Strip.

Have you calculated how many acres of cliff face the Grand Canyon has. That might be the inaccessible part.

For a long time the entirety of the North Santa Teresa Wilderness was inaccessible.

It’s possible that they consider all the public checkers inaccessible when surrounded by private checkers in some large swaths of BLM land.

Wonder how long that initiative will last when people start trashing the private property on their way through.
