Cloudline Socks

My Cloudline socks arrived today. (Very fast delivery from ordering, unlike Darn Tough.) I bought them on a July 4 Sale, 25% off. Now there's 30% off. PM me if you want the Discount Code.

The Cloudline Apparel person said that their Light Cushioned Hiking Crew socks would be the closet match to my Darn Tough Micro Crews of the same cushioning. But they looked higher/taller in their photos. So I opted for their "Quarter Top" instead.

A little less expensive than the Crew size, and a lot shorter than Darn Tough's Micro Crew. 2 inches of my pale ankles might become sun burned for a while.

I'll pretend that I'm a gram weenie and pat myself on the back for saving an ounce.

I just put a pair on now. They feel different from Darn Tough. Not necessary better or worse. Just different. Won't know how they work for me until after a few training hikes.

After six months and a couple of backpack trips, I like my Darn Toughs a little more than I like my Cloudlines.

The Clouldlines are just a little thicker and just a little rougher (less soft) than Darn Toughs. I haven't had a blister yet with the Cloudlines. But I had the start of one on a day trip.

(To be fair, that was a couple water crossings, which might make them different than if always dry.)

OTOH, it seems that the Cloudlines are a little more durable than Darn Toughs. Already my replacement Dart Toughs are "fluffing" in front of my ankle.
