Been on the road for a few days and noticed the weather in AZ has been a bit unsettled. Does anybody know of any significant rainfall received anywhere in the state :?:

Also notice this coming week could provide more opportunities for needed precip. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Rained here in SCW during the night, but probably less than 1/8 of an inch is my guess. Also had spotty showers on the golf course yesterday and I do mean spotty; we'd be standing on a dry tee watching folks on the green getting rained on!

I was on a night hike along the Salt River just east of AZ 288 early sat morning when apx. 4:30 am its started thundering to the SW. Returned to campsite (near rafter takeout) at 5:30 am and it was raining to the south and moved to the NNE. The desert had a strong ozone smell for awhile, though not much rain. Later in the morning I hiked up coon creek and several light thunder showers occured in the morning and early afternoon, not much rain though.

A drop in the bucket

We have received a total of .28 inches near Montezuma Well since Saturday morning. 99% of that fell prior to sunrise Sunday. There have been a few sprinkles Sunday but not enough to wet the bottom of the rain gauge until a pretty good shower came along about 5 p.m. Dropped perhaps .03 inch in a few minutes. We were in Sedona yesterday for most of the day and the bulk of the rain there took place prior to 3 p.m. If this is part of a pattern, perhaps we will be spared the fire season everyone fears. Hope so!

PS--Your best bet for looking at longer range weather is at NOAA's Climate Prediction Center. Here is the URL for the weather forecast products we watch:

You can get to the main page with this URL:

We also watch a pretty esoteric water vapor map. Don't be put off by the gigantic URL. Go check it out. The odd thing about current weather is that there doesn't seem to be an abnormally high amount of water vapor out there right now. Oh, well, it's keeping things moist--that's all that counts! Here's that huge URL:
