At 9,453', this classic sky island is the highest point in the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson. Starting in beautiful Madera Canyon, this popular loop trail climbs, often very steeply, through forests of oak, pine, and aspen to finally reward us with spectacular 360* views of Southern Arizona and Mexico. There's water available at two small springs that are en-route. We'll follow the more gradual Super Trail up and return on the steeper Baldy trail. Bring lunch and a good camera.

You may want to call the Coronado N.F. people before going. A major re-hab of the picnic area's next to the TH is schelduled to start at the end of this month or early Sept.. From their website there saying parking will be limited at 1st and then the road will be closed sometime after. The TH will still be accessible but it sounds like you'll be adding distance to the hike thru warmer terrain.
