I just moved to the Verde valley area from Colorado. I'm an exp. hiker/backpacker and have several long distance trips under my belt. I'm looking for a group or person to hike the Verde Valley,Prescott and Flagstaff area. Although i will travel for the right trip or people.

I'm outgoing and easy to get along with. I will hike or backpack with any skill lvl as i can keep up or slow down for anyone. Please contact me as i have no hiking partners out here yet and the town I live in is extremely small lol.....

Thanks for the tip. I will check that out after my 3 day outing sycamore canyon wilderness area. I'm pretty pumped up for my first backpacking in Arizona tommorrow. It should be a blast. Also saw my first rattlesnake in Arizona and it didn't take long. I have been hiking this wash behind my house and ran into one at dusk tonight. He was about 2 feet away from me coiled up in a big bush. He let out a rattle that let you know "Dont tread on Me !!! Lmao..... It was a heck of an exp....

Out of curiousity, what are some of the long-distance hikes you have done?

Lets see i have hiked the Colorado Trail and have done several 100 mile trips in Colorado. I might be hiking the Arizona Trail in March, which would be grand if it comes thru. Never hiked on the east coast and never done any of the big 3 (APT, CDT, PCT) although they are on my wish list hehe...

Vegabond, if the AZ trail works out, let me know as its been a while since I have been on that trail. Lat time I was on the trail I took a bunch of scouts on a fifty miler. By the way if you are interested one of my hiking partners is a volunteer construction crew member and they always need help cutting trail. Let me know if you are interested.
I have every other weekend free to hike in your area. I have 13 year old son that does Karate on Saturday mornings. luckily I don't have to drive every weekend. My next free weekend is 10-4. I can bring some friends.

Welcome to this forum. Some of us are trying to get together for a hike into Willow Valley and then the Verde Hot Springs on Saturday Sept. 27th... it's under topic "Willow Valley on short notice" There's a group doing the valley Thursday, and another trying to get together for next Saturday.

Enjoy. Sophia

Anyone looking for hiking partners or a group near Phoenix might want to check out Take a Hike AZ. They have a yahoo group site and do weekly meetings at Old Chicago on Broadway in Tempe. they're generally late 20's to late 40's and do hike every weekend.

In response to VegaBond's reply:

Hi! I'm relatively new to Arizona too. I live in the Ft. Huachuca/Sierra Vista area and have been looking for a hiking buddy for some time now. There are soooo many places I want to explore. Could you tell me if there is a steady group of hikers with hikearizona.com?

Thanks,

Mindy
