Group Hike to Rogers Canyon

Hooli and I having recently read Feldman's 'Crooked Mountain', have the itch to go see the ruins in Rogers Canyon.
http://www.hikearizona.com/decoder.php? ... s%20Canyon
We will be headed out early next Sunday, April 21st. Hooli, Linda and myself will be in his Jeep with room for one more. The road is pretty rough back in there and high clearance is recommended. I'm not sure you need four wheel drive, we'll have to await Fritzski's answer on that. We would like to have this as a HAZ group hike for anyone interested. If we take a sizeable group back there we'll have to exercise our LNT ethics a little more carefully around the ruins.
Let's go for a walk.

Make sure and go the extra half mile to Angel Basin. It is the ideal spot for your lunch break.
PS: Watch out for snakes in that cave!!! ;)

You might have a taker. I've read a portion of the book and maybe a hike out there would peak my interest again. We're thinking about reading it in our bookclub. I'll check on it and letcha know for sure. Sounds fun.
I'll confirm. Hopefully the Jimmy can make it, if not, I'll hold on to the bumper of the Jeep 8O or haul the quad out there (there's nothing it can't climb). If the Jimmy'll make it, would it be OK to bring any friends???

Bring anyone you like, that's what it's all about. We made it in Fritzski's Jeep with no problems and no 4X4 I'm pretty sure. If there's enough interest and not enough vehicles, I may rent or borrow a 4X4 ride myself.
Looking forward to a great outing with some great people,

I'd like to go, I'm not sure my little Nissan is high clearance enough though, what do ya think?

:
(knew I shoulda kept my 4x4!)...maybe we could just strap me to the roof of the jeep!

Yeah Paintninaz, we can strap you to the top of the Jeep, but you gotta supply your own bungy cords, OK?
Nah, you can have the spare seat.

Well if paintninaz goes, then the Jeep is full.
How's your end looking Azscrapper?
I'm sure we can accomodate more.

We have another person with a high clearance truck interested, not sure if he's a member or not, but he'll be there.
Turning out good so far,

Sounds like a fun hike and plan to be there -- I think I'll bring Rusty along for all you fans out there!

Kelly, is there still room in your Jimmy?
PS This message is from Cairn (Mrs. Fritzski). Unfortunately Fritzski will be flying the friendly skies that day!

Looking forward to seeing you and Rusty out there Cairn.
I don't know what to do about a meeting spot yet. Is there a spot on the east side that's good to go to?

Yahoo, this has turned out to be quite the group. And yes Cairn I have room for you and Rusty. Another couple I know have decided to go too! Anyhow, I say lets meet at Queen Valley Road. Right when you exit the 60 to Queen Valley Road there is a big spot perfect for meeting. AND, if we're gonna do Elviras after someone oughta let 'em know.
Ok, now all we need is a time.
(Joe-Cairn and I would like to know what type of messages you have to delete from Fritzski

Agree that we should let Elvira's know and try to give a fairly accurate head count. They had the table set for 15 before the Kollenborn thing and I think only 8 or 9 showed.

: GTG, can you get an Elvira's head count from your non-HAZ hikers?
:!: And HAZ hikers, please post yes or no for Elvira's.
As far as letting them know a time, think the best we can do is 'Late afternoon'.
Also think Fritzski's idea about lunch at Angel Basin is a good one.
Fritzski, we'd probably miss you, but both your replacments are cuter than you!

I'll pick GTG, Linda and Paintninaz up at GTG's at 6:30. That should put us at Queen Valley Rd. around 7:45 or so.
We can all meet there and do any consolidation of cars.
Queen Valley Rd is a couple of miles past Florence Junction on Hyway 60.

We have another interested person as well. He will be bringing his own truck. Seeing how the Jeep will be full, I suppose I could put my cooler in his truck so we can have after-hike refreshments. I'll try to arrange a meeting spot with him.

GTG, your 'after hike refreshments' have always been highly enjoyable!

Up 'til now I was planning on using Paintninaz's bungie's to strap you to the Jeep's roof in order to make room inside the Jeep for your cooler!
