I was wondering if there is any interest in forming a group to hike Picacho Peak.
I would imagine any saturday would be fine. We can all meet somewhere on the south side and carpool anyone who wants a ride.
Anyone interested?

May 4th it is then...
If someone wants to carpool from the glendale area, I have room for 1
Where ya wanna meet? Fry's electronics on baseline and I-10?
What time do you all think would be best?

Count me in, too! In May, think EARLY! Are you thinking of taking the Sunset Trail in and the Hunter out, or what?

OK so how about we meet in the parking lot of fry's electronics at around
7 am? We should be able to hit the trail by 8:30 latest..
Now, just so we are prepared, is there a fee to get into that park? ( i rarely carry cash, and Im sure they dont take debit cards. )
( Fry's electronics is on Baseline right at I-10 )
Also if anyone needs / wants a ride just let us know...
As far as which trail, heck, i dunno I will let those who know the area make the suggestions.
Park fees

Well, it is a state park and therefore costs about $5 per car per day. It might be only $3 - but I would be prepared for $5. Plus there's a Dairy Queen just accross the freeway - so you can do something unhealthy right after the hike.
I may be along as well. Have to see if the wife will approve. Possibly one or two others with me - I'll keep you posted.

Thanx for the tip Olesma.
I will be prepared for both the park entrance fee as well as the possible unhealthy visit to DQ as well.
Feel free to join us.

I have been thinking of going with to Picacho Peak, my only concern is that I don't want to hold anyone back. I know I can make it, just not sure what my overall pace will be. I live near Tatum and Bell, and if I were to go I would be interested in hitching a ride if anyone has room in their car. Thanks -

Anna....
Dont worry about pace. We are not going for a record. We are going to meet each other and enjoy the great wide open.
If you havent arranged a ride from someone in your area, Let me know, I can come that way.

Thanks Cakwalk, for the encouragement and the offer to drive this way. I much prefer being a passenger. I will let you know when I am positive I can make it and if I need a ride. Anna

Hi Anna,
I live near Tatum & Bell as well. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go on May 4th. If I can, you're more than welcome to ride with us. Most likely, Randy who is another Haz member, and possibly member #1000 (my wife) will be with me. There should be plenty of room in either our car, or Randy's, though. I'll let you know as soon as I'm sure I can or can't go.

Hi All
Had to check my calender but it looks like I can make it. It is another great hike on my list. Anna, you can definitely hang with me unless, of course, your ahead of me.

ok... We have a nice size group forming here...
The preliminary weather forcast for May 4th is sunny and 92 degrees.
Not bad. As of right now we are planning to hit the trail by 8:30am
1. Is 8:30 a good time to start? Or you think earlier to beat the heat?
2. Other than ride arrangements, do you wanna meet at fry's eletronics parking lot, or just go and meet at the park.
Lets hear your feedback so we can make a final plan of attack.
