In response to mtnrat's reply: The North Rim is closed after the weekend of the 13th of Oct. I am not sure where you are leaving your car. The gate is 15 miles or so from the rim. Between May 15 and Oct 15 they run a shuttle between the north and south rim but after the 15 of Oct. they don't....
Visitor services and facilities inside the national park on the NORTH RIM are only open from mid-May to mid-October. Weather permitting, the North Rim is open for day use only following the close of facilities in mid-October. During this time there are no services or overnight facilities available inside the park. The road from Jacob Lake to the North Rim (Highway 67) is subject to closure with little or no notice during this interval and then remains closed until mid-May.
For the 2003 season, visitor services and facilities inside the national park on the North Rim will be open from May 10 - October 14, 2003.

In response to Dschur's reply:
Thanks for the information. I don't want to do rim to rim to rim from the south. That would be a huge chunk to bite off. Might have to postpone till next October. Hey, by then Maybe rim to rim to rim from the north.
Cheers,
Sean

In response to mtnrat's reply: My husband is doing the south Rim to rim (spend 2 nights on the north) and then Rim to Rim back on the Friday Oct 3-Oct 5. He does it every May and Oct. for the past 5 years or so....

So is there any reason if the road is not closed, that I can run from north to south stay overnight and then run-hike back. Would my vehicle get towed? Maybe I will just run down the south side and then back up. not a true rim to rim though

.
Sean.

In response to mtnrat's reply: Not sure on that what they do if a car sits overnight. But that is getting close to snow on that side. We had snow up there first of October last year.
