Faded Contrails-Last Flights over Arizona by Trey Brandt is an excellent book that provides a sobering account of crashed military aircraft in Arizona from 1942-1977. Military history usually reflects large and important battles. Trey's account of pilots and aircrews, most of whom were killed-provides a unique perspective on those airman who were training for battle on the home front.
