Haven't been hiking or camping in quite a while and I'm looking to get back into it. Just wanted to stop in and say HELLO!

Oh, I fully expect a whole new world of pain and suffering since I have to shed about sixty pounds from my once lean but now rather pear shaped physique.

I Imagine I'll start with some simple day hikes and work up from there.

It'll go quick just jump in! You picked a great time to start. The weather is with you for the next five months solid. Roll with it & welcome to HAZ!

Well...I need to lose about 35 pounds! That's because I spend 8 days a week, 30 hours a day sitting at this computer trying to make a living! What's your excuse?

Same here....I'm a freelance digital artist so I sit on my ever growing rump for most of the day.

It's high time I got off it and got re-aquanted with nature.
I did manage to go horseback riding in Flagstaff over the weekend and oh dear god am I sore.

In response to SPINNAKER's reply:
Yeah...it's sad! You sit here and get into what you're doing and the next thing you know, the day is gone! I'm sitting here now...listening to "Boston" at a loud volume and thinking ...I'll fix everything else tomorrow! LOL

Well...SPINNAKER...you've picked a good site to get back into hiking! I've been here over 2 1/2 years, will be here till Dec 22 of this year, and you'll learn a lot about Arizona hiking on here! Stick with it and get the body moving...everything else will fall into place! Ok...maybe "fall" wasn't the right word...but, you know what I mean.

Where are you going

Well, ponder this: It's always about the "next step." No matter how long you've hiked/walked/ambled you will always, by definition, have to take ONE more step to get to the next place/level/plateau/whatever.
You simply CANNOT get ANYWHERE without taking the FIRST STEP to get there. Cliche? Yes. No doubt. True? Yep! You bet. Always treat each and every hike/walk you do with the same reverence for "the first step" and everything will be OK. Afterall, it's a universal truth that doesn't change no matter how "buffed" or lean or in shape you get. You will still and will ALWAYS be challenged by your next step. Honest. It's true.
