Hello all,
I was hoping some of you might be able to recommend some spots for an overnight hike that I plan on doing post-Turkey Day weekend. I'm looking for areas within about an hour's drive or so from the Phoenix area. Thanks.

The Superstitions always rank high on my list! Charlebois or La Barge springs are always nice.

I'll second that and add Bluff Springs in the Supes as another good camping spot.

My choice would be the superstitions too. But I prefer off-trail travel so I would recommend the peters cave/canyon area. Its in a canyon so its hard to get lost, but its also more diffucult to find a camping spot.
Anywhere down boulder canyon also makes good camping, you can get views of all the major formations of the area from there

Thanks Wiz, Daryl and Matt. The Superstitions definitely seem to be the logical choice considering their close proximity and the fact that I have yet to hike in that area. I haven't decided yet on any of the locations you all recommended, but they are much appreciated!

Bell,
If you haven't been there before, I'd think twice before going to Peters Canyon for your introductory one-nighter. Unless you're a pain seeker. That is one miserable boulder-strewn tough canyon. (But beautiful!)
Some of the easier places in the western part of the range might be more fun as an introduction.
(Sorry Matt, I just didn't want him to end up mad at you!)

In response to Wiz's reply:
Thats OK wiz. Its probably better that you warned him. I've been down to the cave so many times its just like a walk in the park these days. That and I just love those boulder strewn canyons. I forget that others might not appreciate them the way I do...
