Clearly I am screwing this new post up so bear with me.

Disclosures:
: king : Joe Bartels- you have an awesome sight!
8) pfredrick's and olesma- I think you guys are cool and great peace makers.
 Snick33, Billy, ck1, kurthzone- I miss you all.
: queen : sherileeaz- You make a great mother to matt gilbert.
:?: Matt Gilbert- You scare me, you are smart.
:A2: To the lovely lady, who shall remain nameless- I wish I could go hiking with you!
: rambo : boxerjoey- I am scared of you, you are buffed.
:?: Rodney and HikerInGilbert: You lost me with the foreign language.
:x Montezumawell and wiz- you are just grumpy ol' folks.
:D And to all the other HAZer's, I think you are wonderful!

Now, my 1/2 cents. I will be quick.

I had thought "Flume closing....." would be a wonderful post, I was looking forward to hearing everyones thoughts. And I think it still can be, perhaps on a new post. However, I read m'well's pointed comments and thought I would sit it out and watch it, and threw in some emoticons. Whoa! it is still going.

Some tried to keep the post going on the straight and narrow. Kudos to you. I preferred to ignore the comments. Others got anger. Why? After all, words are cheap, opinions fly, and there will those who will make harsh comment? They are who they are. And why get upset on a computer?

Why am I writing this, well frankly it is because m'well made mention of public service and background, so I want to toot my horn if this works:

http://www.pvaz.net/Government/council/ables.htm

The one thing I have learned as a public servant; when someone disagrees with you or you disagree with them, you afford each other with the dignity and courtesy while debating. Anger and letting your emotions kick in will not solve anything. Note, I did not mention respect, as I do believe you have to earn it. But I do believe in extending everyone the courtesy and dignity to allow them to voice their point of view. Everybody deserves that.

And m'well, you simply did not allow for that.

In closing, I know I am not perfect, but I try to behave.

In response to matt gilbert's reply:

Hey Matt, the pic was taken in Pueblo Canyon near Cherry Creek. My oldest son, friend and I spent four days exploring the area a few years back.

I was try to use the pic to set the tone for my post; however, I goofed!

Thanks Abe, it's a compliment I'm not truly worthy of.
If I had a son, it would be Matt for sure!
I have heard nothing but wonderful comments about Matt,
he's a gem!

I have to say that I didn't follow the forum totally that you are refering too. I most likely jumped in and did a bit of humor or tried to. I agree with you on your remarks concerning respect.

Anymore, at my age, I just can't get too worked up over things.
But I know that forum topic generated some talk on and off HAZ.

I think I'll stick to my extended family and enjoy those moments. Which is what I believe your picture is about.

OHHHH and if all else fails when I goof up on a post, I always have my "blondeness" to get me out of hot water, no one takes a blonde seriously!!

It would be nice to see you at some of the group hikes.

Happy Holidays,
Sherileeaz : queen : Matt's other Mom and proud of it!!

In response to sherileeaz's reply:

You are welcome sherileeaz's and thanks. Yes, Matt's cool, and I got a kick :rollH: when reading the two of you bantering back and forth sometime back.

I am not a blond, but I do have a lot of gray hair, would that account for my screwing up the post?

: rein : And Happy Holidays to you and yours as well.

Great post! Funny stuff and good advise. . . Happy Holiday's to ALL : rein : I hope in the new year to come, I get the opportunity to get in on a few of the group hikes with some of you from this site!

Hey Abe, I'm going to try and make it on your "Disclosure" list next year! I'm very disappointed that the position of Matt's Mom" has already been taken...

 Thank woopitup. And I will keep you in mind for next years disclosures. However, can you shed some light on which one is the real woopitup in the pic? I have been puzzling over it, placing bets, trying to figure out who is who.

Hang loose

In response to mritchey's reply: Welcome aboard mritchey. I would suggest popping open the Hike Indexes above and then backpacking. Good start to look in.
