Before the HAZ Forum closes on the 15th, I and maybe the others on this site would like to wish Pete Fredricks good luck. I got a call from him a couple of days ago from Washington saying that his guard unit was activated and are departing for Germany for the time being, but didn't rule out the possibility of Iraq at a later date. He said that it could last up to a year and a half.

He mentioned that he would check back with us on the forum from time to time, but it looks like that won't be an option.

So if you catch this before the closing of the forum Pete, good luck and godspeed on your deployment buddy we will miss you! And be careful on the "German Alps Mother Lode"!

If you would like to e-mail Pete, here is a link to his website - [ geocities closed in 2009, link removed ]

I talked to Pete before he took off also. It sounds like they got activated for 18 months and he'll probably be in and out of Iraq every 3 months. I'll never forget "What the Four Peaks taught me" though.

Guten Morgen-
Hello from Germany -actually afternoon here (2pm)

I will miss all of you and was especially disappoined to see the forum vanishing. I was really looking forward to keeping up with all of your lives vicariously.

I feel happy to not be in Iraq at this point
Again-miss you guys

We have been thru alot together!
