I was in the Wickenburg Wilderness over the weekend, lots of rain, LOTS of posting of private land and I was unsuccessful in finding the trail that I wanted to get on. Is anyone familiar with this area and could give me some beta? There were a few canyons that I would love to get myself into, however access seems very limited with all the private land postings. 4x4 was a must in several areas. Mary

Those signs are a tad intimidating with the warnings, guns & skulls hand painted on and all.

Which trail or canyon are you trying to access?

I was trying for Burro Flats, but when I got to the old hot springs, I noticed a very inviting canyon that I would love to go down. I saw several canyons in that area that spiked my curiosity. It seems like a jewel of an area, with very little information and it appears, even less access to get into them. Mary

There's access info in the book "Day Trips with a Splash: Swimming Holes of the Southwest." According to the author, you can park at Castle Hot Springs and walk into Crater Canyon from there. This route crosses private land but according to the author the owner of the land is okay with hikers crossing.
