HOUSE!

Today was our first day of bonafide home-ownership.

We can't move in yet as there is a lot of work to be done (new flooring, new paint, complete kitchen and bathroom renovations, new outdoor fencing, new.... ). We hope to be able to move in within the month but that may be optimistic since we're doing all the work ourselves. It is a really cool house though, built in the 40's. It has a lot of neat old features that you don't find in new homes.

We're both really excited.

In addition to the new house I was also offered a chance for a promotion at REI. So, I'm full of good news tonight. I'll put in my application tomorrow morning and hopefully will know by the end of the week if I get the new job. I'm still somewhat unsure whether I can get it or not seeing as I haven't even had my six month review. But the assistant store manager told me he'd really like to see me apply for it, so that bodes well.

That's great Matt! :) (also cool how you presented it!)

There's no place like home!

Great news Matt! Congrats!

Good luck on the promotion- I know how you feel- I am waiting on that "you got it" phone call myself right now.

Sounds like you have a lot of work to do on the house. Let me know if I can lend a hand- I would be happy to help. I can hold a nail without flinching ya know! Seriously, PM me if ya need some help.

I have to stop in at REI tomorrow, and I'll say hello if I see ya. Maybe you can give me some more scoop on the MD hike.

Good luck to you and the Mrs.

Mike

Congrats on everything Matt! Especially the house. I hope to be a homeowner myself within the next year or so. More to the point though, I work for a manufacturer of sanding and grinding products. If you find yourself in need of sandpaper while doing your renovations, hit me up! I'll be glad to make some donations!

Hey Matt-
What's the update?? Did you receive the promotion?

I didn't get the promotion, but I'm not upset about it either. The giuy who got the job couldn't have deserved it more. There were circumstances in his life that made this promotion about the best thing that could have happened to him (I won't go into it but lets just say that involved his kid) so I am really happy for him.

On another note, the house is comming along nicely. The kitchen floor is in and the most of the house has been repaired/repainted. We decided to rip out the bathroom entirely and start from scratch, so that's been fun. If anyone knows much about tile bathtubs please (please, please) let me know so I can tap you as a resource.
