Debris on Sedona's Templeton / Cathedral Rock Trail

I hike this trail a lot because I can walk to it from my house and I just can't ignore it any more. Just as you come down from Cathedral Rock heading east towards 179, there is a large pile of rusty tin sheets like they used to be on a roof. Jerks have decided to hang some over tree limbs and other jerks (you know the type that throw the wrapper of their Cliffs Bars on the ground because they think the Javalina will clean it up for them) have shoved trash (including used maxipads) between the ones the ground. Anyone who has hiked or biked this trail has seen this.

I make it a habit, as to most of us, I'm sure, of picking up any trash I find along the trail, but this needs to be brought out on a vehicle of some sort. It really should be cleaned up. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, not too far from this spot further east is a car bumper and a car door, and who knows, maybe a while car (I havn't tried to dig it up).

I agree! But it wasn't the tourists that are responsible for it being there. However, if they would just leave it alone, it might not be such an eye sore.

I don't know the area, but if it is a Wilderness, getting a vehicle in there is a big deal. It can be done but there is quite a process the governing agency will have to thru.

Either way, check with the authorities, Forest Service I suspect up there, to see how to get it out.

I contacted the FS and I was told that if people would volenteer, they might either allow, or provide and ATV to haul it out. My email is being forward upward, so I'm waiting to hear back from the next level.
