We are coming over from England at Christmas 2005 for two weeks and staying at a house that backs onto the 'Las Cienegas National Conservation Area' which is to the NE of Sonoita. The BLM site appears to be down, but from what I have been able to research I can find no reference to established trails. As it is a conservation area we would rather hike on tracks/trails than bushwhack. There appear to be some old jeep trails on the map but that's about it. Grateful for any info or points to visit. Many thanks

The area was a pioneer ranch, acquired by BLM in land exchanges. Unfortunately, there is a pretty severe problem with undocumented aliens using the ranch. Check with local authorities-Border Patrol, BLM Rangers-before venturing too far out there.

I've been out on it only a few times, it's mostly rolling grassland, a stream does flow thru it but it is not spectacular hiking country, from what I've seen.
