Seeing if any one is interested in a hike\bike trip that will commence on May 27th.

So far this is what I have planned! Leave Phoenix via Greyhound to Flagstaff. From there I will take a shuttle to the Grand Canyon and make a assualt to the north side. Upon my return to the south I will head back to Flagstaff and pick up my mtn bike. From there I will head to Mt. Humphrey for a day hike.

I am riding my mt. bike back to Phoenix and have picked a few routes that I have an interest in. I do plan on heading to Childs but am a little concerned on the trails that are on the west side of the river. I have been told that I might be draging my bike for 4 to 5 miles vertical as I head to Bloody Basin (7 Springs). I would like to know if anyone has ever hiked to Dugas from the Verde. I thought of rafting to Horseshoe but would have to leave my bike behind.......

I am also seeking support from you fellow hikers for possible rest stops, place to crash and to charge my electronic gizmos.

Again! if any one is interested in this crazy adventure please email off line ( azbootcamp@yahoo.com ) or call me 623-261-7556.

This trip should last at least 7 to 9 days. Any suggestions, support or info.... : rambo :

The past 2 1/2 years I have been riding and camping on my mtn. bike. I have a Giant Yukon (hardtail) with panniers. I park my jeep and go out for a couple of days, ride and camp. Some place I have parked my jeep include Payson, Kohls Ranch, Woods Canyon Lake and Happy Jack. Sometimes I take my road bike with me while staying near Happy Jack. Very Good road ride from Happy Jack to Flagstaff. For the Coconino National Forest, I would recommend the Game Management maps as they depict more roads and trails then the forest visitors map. You have quite a trip planned and below the rim the area you are planning on visiting may be closed due to fire hazard. The road trail from Childs to Cave Creek is long and will be hot and crossing the Verde may be difficult depending on the water flow down the Verde River.
