Hi,
I'll be visiting Tempe during the last week of December and am looking for ideas for a 3 day 2 night trip. A friend recommended Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon. Any advice or ideas appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there decatur,
If you're interested in hiking the grand canyon then by all means go for it. If you plan on going all the way down to Bright Angel campground then I would recommend making a loop out of it and taking the S. Kaibab down and the Bright Angel Trail up. Going up will take about twice as long as going down (rough estimate, depends on alot of variables). Any overnight stays in the canyon require a backcountry hiking permit, forms and directions are available at the Grand Canyon NP website. If you have any other questions just ask, but i can garuntee it will be one of the most memorable trips you do.

In response to decaturscout's reply:

re. The Canyon.... see http://www.kaibab.org/hiking.htm > the site is basically a Bible on GC backcountry..
Have fun & be safe.

In response to mikeinFHAZ's reply: the hike may be a 3 day 2 night lazy trip into Reavis Gap trail, to the ranch, back out the Fireline and Campain trails. great scenery,
