I know this is not a completed trail, but has anyone we know hiked this or most of it?

Hi Cathy!
I don't know anyone, although I am sure on this vast site someone does! Have you read Crossing Arizona, by Chris Townsead? He backpacked south to north in 2000, and the book chronicles his trip. So far it is very interesting!
I just started reading it- picked it up at Barnes & Noble in the Metro yesterday.
Are you (like probably most of us) thinking of the AZT too...and sighing...

there have been dozens of through hikers to date. There have been even more to use mt bike, equestrian, and weekend warriors.
the AZT is completed in its entirety as far as I know.

here's a list of most of the people who have completed so far, and there's a man on another site who segment-hiked it.

In response to AZHikr4444's reply:
Thanks for the replies. I haven't read Crossing Arizona...sounds interesting and what I am looking for (off to Barnes & Noble again).
At this time I am still dreaming of such hikes, etc. I am at the very beginning of hiking...I guess that is why I enjoy the comments, stories, and those wonderful photographs.
In the meantime I will be patient and keep trying.

I was in B. Dalton's today, and found a new guide book out. Called, "The Offical Arizona Trail Guide book". Yep, it's out there. I only took a glance at it, but there seemed to be good descriptions and topo maps in the book. Mary

There has been an AZ Trail book "almost final" for what seems like years, sounds like it's here.

Shawn, I saw the book and thought, maybe we need to start working on plans for this trail again?!! That northern area was beautiful! Mary

In response to Shi's reply:
Thanks for the suggestion. I read 'Crossing Arizona' and was ready for another book on the Arizona trail.
I am also interested in the history associated with the trails and historic sites throughout Arizona. Probably should check out the local library, otherwise it appears it could be an expensive endeavor.
Thanks again, Cathy
