I know that Arizona Outdoor Travel Club (AOTC) has hikes in the South Mountain area. (Holbert trail to Dobbins Lookout).

I know that Sierra Singles was organizing a group for the upcoming City of Phoenix Parks Dept hike on National Trail.

Groups provide a way to meet knowledgeable hikers in "safe" situations. They also help you judge your abilities and find hikes that you enjoy. The small amount you pay for group membership can be priceless if you find a group you enjoy.

Good Luck and happy hiking.

I'm in Ahwatukee and there are a few of us that hike and mountain bike S. mountain quite often. I usually get out there at least once a week.
